Hearing News Update (January 2020)
In this installment of hearing news we have several articles related to hearing loss ranging from advice for those suffering from hearing loss who find themselves patients in hospitals to an in-depth interview with musician (and Ménière’s disease sufferer) Huey Lewis. A link to a blog post on hearing screenings in young adults is also featured as well as a presentation handout by Mary Bauer who spoke at the December 2019 HLAA-TC meeting.
Article: “Have a Hearing Loss, in the Hospital?” by Kathi Mestayer Hearing Health (Fall 2019).
An article about the awareness patients with hearing loss need to have that making their hearing loss known to medical care providers is instrumental in a successful hospital experience. The article is full of tips on how best to do this. This article was first published in Hearing Health in the Fall 2019 issue (and additional resources can be found at: hhf.org/fall2019-references).
Article: “The Whitefish Review Interview: Huey Lewis” The Whitefish Review [published online December 9, 2019].
An in-depth interview with musician Huey Lewis (of Huey Lewis and the News) that covers many topics. However, he does discuss being diagnosed with Ménière’s disease in 2018 and his journey with hearing loss because of the disease. The article is long (and warning: has some colorful language) however you can easily browse the article for subheads that interest you like “HEARING LOSS.”
