Speaker Spotlight: Dr. Juliëtte Sterkens
This is the first “Speaker Spotlight” officially announcing audiologist Dr. Juliëtte Sterkens, AuD as one of three speakers at the HLAA-TC “Live Well With Hearing Loss” Conference 2020.
Dr. Sterkens will be speaking about looping technology for hearing loss. What is a hearing loop? Dr. Sterkens defines it on her Twitter (@LoopWisconsin) as “a special sound system for people with hearing loss. It is composed of a loop amplifier and wire that is looped around the room. Anyone within the loop wearing a telecoil equipped hearing device or using a loop receiver will hear what is transmitted by the loop amplifier.” A hearing loop provides a magnetic wireless signal that allows those using it via the telecoils (T-coils) in their hearing device to hear what’s on a Public Address (PA) system without background noise.
