A Review of Hugo Vickers Book Club Discussion
On Tuesday, July 26th the HLAA-TC Book Club welcomed the author of our June/July book selection: Hugo Vickers. Mr. Vickers joined us via Zoom from England to talk with us about his book “Alice: Princess Andrew of Greece” (2003). It was fun to get to talk to someone who has such incredible knowledge of British royalty and history and also was recruited by Prince Philip to write the biography of the prince’s mother, Princess Alice.
Some fun tidbits from the talk:
-In 1995 Hugo Vickers was contacted by Prince Philip’s personal secretary to write this biography on Princess Alice.
-Mr. Vickers tells us his opinion (when asked) on Netflix’s “The Crown.”
-If you’re interested in reading his historical dissection of “The Crown” you can find it here: https://www.amazon.com/Crown-Dissected-Hugo-Vickers-ebook/dp/B081TF6Y3Z
-Mr. Vickers also talked about modern day British royalty (Queen Elizabeth, Prince Harry and Megan Markle, Prince William and Princess Kate, etc).
If you would like to watch/read/listen to the talk please email HLAA-TC Social Media Specialist and book club coordinator Laura Hagemann at social@hlaatc.org and she will send you a link to view the recording or read the transcript.
The next HLAA-TC Book Club and book selection is:
Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 7:00pm (CST): “A Maiden’s Grave” by Jeffrey Deaver (Fiction/Mystery).

About the HLAA-TC Book Club: The HLAA-TC Book Club meets every month throughout the year on the fourth Tuesday of the month. We alternate between reading fiction and nonfiction books each month and our selections often deal with hearing loss, deafness or disability. We are meeting virtually on Zoom and have had several authors and special guests join us to discuss the books. We meet in the evenings (usually) on Zoom (with computer/AI captions). For more information about the book club, please email Laura Hagemann (HLAA-TC Social Media Specialist) at social@hlaatc.org
