The first link of mention is a video that HLAA-TC President Christine Morgan was featured in. Morgan was interviewed by University of Minnesota Journalism student Ashley Clemens. Morgan spoke about how the global health crisis of COVID-19 is affecting the hearing loss community. In related COVID-19 news, Minnesota state organizations are adapting their services to the pandemic and offering more resources online. Organizations both big and small, locally and nationally (like fellow HLAA chapters that you can find listed in this previous post) are offering virtual meetings and discussions. On Thursday, December 3, 2020, the Minnesota Department of Health Persons with Disabilities Unit offered one such online meeting. It was a free meeting (you just had to pre-register) and lasted for about an hour and a half. It included a discussion of what Minnesota is doing to adapt its disability services during the global health crisis of COVID-19. In addition to an organized presentation by various MDH employees, there was also a breakout session of smaller groups of 10-15 people where issues were discussed and then brought back to the larger group. Below is a list of resources that were shared during Thursday’s Zoom meeting. There will be more meetings with this MDH group monthly. Watch our blog and social media for updates on those future meetings.
