More information on St. Anthony Main Saturday showing to celebrate Open Caption movies
As we posted about earlier a local Minneapolis movie theater has made the incredible decision to have ALL MOVIES, EVERY DAY at St. Anthony Main (in Minneapolis, MN) open captioned. This means the captions show on the screen and it makes movies more accessible to a wide range of audiences (including deaf and hard of hearing). This makes Minnesota the first state in the country with a movie theater with open captions on all movies at all times. (Read our previous blog post to learn more about open captions at St. Anthony Main.)
As we mentioned in our previous post a group of appreciative Minneapolis residents are gathering this Saturday (December 4, 2021) to attend a movie together to show their support for the theater and appreciation. We have more information to share. The group is attending the 8:00 showing of “House of Gucci.” Here’s the link to the Facebook event link.
The group is hosted by MN Deaf Queers, Lilly Steinbruckner and Keenan Gau. The group is gathering at 7:00 to socialize before the 8:00 show. There may be a line so that’s why the group is gathering early. It is encouraged to purchase tickets online to avoid risking that they sell out. (Purchase tickets online here.)
St. Anthony Main Address: 115 SE Main St., Minneapolis, MN 55414
Parking: Street parking is available on Main St. using the parking meter terminals. These terminals accept coins and credit/debit cards only. You can also pay using the MPLS Parking App. There is a parking ramp located a block behind the theatre on 2nd St. Price is $7. Free parking is available after 6 pm on 2nd St. The theater doesn’t validate for parking.
Note: Open captions are available at all movie showtimes, every day at St. Anthony Main so attending this showing isn’t the only time open captions will be available. The group organized by Minnesota Deaf Queers, Lilly Steinbruckner and Keenan Gau is attending this movie together just to show their appreciation for the movie theater and its groundbreaking open captions decision.
