October/November Book Club: November 4th at 7:00pm
Announcing that our next book club meeting is going to be on Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm (Central Time). We will be reading the memoir “Invisible: My Journey Through Vision and Hearing Loss” by Ruth Silver (found here on Amazon). Like in months past we will be meeting on Zoom with live captions. Email HLAA-TC Social Media Specialist and Book Club coordinator Laura Hagemann at social@hlaatc.org for the meeting link. All HLAA-TC meetings (including book club meetings) are free and open to everyone (you don’t need to be a HLAA or HLAA-TC member).
The HLAA-TC book club has been meeting since April 2021 and we meet regularly to discuss either a fiction or nonfiction book. We have been alternating each month between fiction and nonfiction and have been joined by authors numerous times.
Past HLAA-TC Book Club Books: April 2021 “Deaf Sentence” by David Lodge (novel); May 2021 “Life After Deaf” by Noel Holston (memoir/nonfiction) June/July 2021 “Not a Sound” by Heather Gudenkauf (novel); August 2021 “Shouting Won’t Help” by Katherine Bouton (memoir/nonfiction); “The Heart is a Lonely Hunter” by Carson McCullers (novel).
We plan on meeting regularly throughout the year and are meeting on Zoom. Again, if you are interested in the book club, please email Laura Hagemann at social@hlaatc.org for the meeting link. All book clubs are announced on the HLAA-TC blog and social media.
