In other Hearing Loss-related news:
AT THE CAPITOL: The Minnesota Commission of the Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing (MNCDHH) had people testify in person at the Capitol for another round of testimonies for the Closed Captions in Public Spaces Bill (House File 909). Remote testimonies were accepted last March (see this YouTube video for the testimonies last March: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCavM0EpTPk ). This is the update from MNCDHH: “Additional testimonies were heard by the Judiciary Finance and Civil Law Committee. This bill would update Minnesota’s human rights statutes to clarify that not having captions displayed on TVs in public places is considered discrimination. The Commission’s Government Relations Director, Alicia Lane, and Civic Engagement Specialist, Keenan Gao, testified along with Sonny Wasilowski. The Committee expressed strong support for the bill and unanimously voted to send it to the General Register—which means it will be brought to the whole House for further action, at a time of their choosing.”
